Billion-Dollar Marketing Consultant and Copywriter Auctions T ...

Waynesville, NC (FV Newswire) - Clayton Makepeace, one of America%u2019s most effective %u2013 and rumored to be highest paid %u2013 direct marketing consultants and copywriters is auctioning off his %u201CSqueeze a Boob, Save a Life%u201D t-shirt on eBay to raise awareness and money for The American Breast Cancer Foundation.

The winning bidder gets the shirt that Makepeace, a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, wears to biker rallies for breast cancer awareness. In addition to the somewhat outrageous shirt, the winning bidder will also receive an autographed copy of Clayton%u2019s popular book, " Double Your Profits in 12 Months or Less."

In addition, Makepeace and his wife Wendy have set aside $10,000 of their own money to match the winning bid.

In just a few short hours after the auction was posted on Wednesday, the bidding for the $9 tee-shirt rocketed to $1,000.

Bidding Joe Savage a sad goodbye

Willing their eyes not to well, clenching their jaws lest a sob slip out, Joseph Savage's friends and family carried his body into the church. Carefully, slowly, they parted a crowd of 500 or more to gently, awkwardly, place his casket before an altar still white with Easter lilies.

Joe died in a fire in the basement of his Walden home on Friday. He had come home late from a friend's house, unbeknownst to his family, and had fallen asleep downstairs. The rest of the family escaped, not knowing there was one more to account for. Fire officials have not released the cause of the blaze.

There is something to be said for a volunteer department that hoists an American flag from the top of its ladder trucks, letting the fabric snap in the stiff crosswinds over the road to the cemetery.

Burlco eyes Web auctions

Burlington County plans to join other local governments in auctioning government surplus items on the Web.

The Burlington County Freeholders authorized its treasurer's office to sign an agreement with GovDeals Inc., which operates an Internet auction site called www.govdeals.com.

The freeholders said they will sell vehicles and office equipment to the public online to make more money, save time and attract more bidders.

Sharon Brauckmann, county purchasing agent, said the auction would be held later this year and not until the state Department of Community Affairs gives its approval. She said the state must approve a county application to waive the normal local public auction using an auctioneer.

Kurt Brock, the county's chief financial officer, said the state is approving Internet auctions of government property only on eBay and GovDeals.
