59th Avenue project nears, City awards $6.2 M bids
It will be easier to ride a bike or turn into Thunderbird Conservation Park soon as improvements to 59th Avenue between Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads are set to begin this spring. Glendale City Council approved a total bid of $6,289,556 million during a March 13 meeting at the City Council Chambers, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. City Council awarded Meadow Valley Contractors $6,194,544 and Stantec Consulting $95,012. According to Vice Mayor Manny Martinez, the improvement project has been in the bid process for more than a year. "Bids went out last fall and only one came back that was a lot higher than estimates," Mr. Martinez said. He explained city staff studied the proposal and looked at ways to trim project costs. The project was re-bid in fall 2006.

Government of India have announced the sale (re-issue) of 8.07 per cent Government Stock, 2017 for a notified amount of Rs.6,000 crore (nominal) through a price based auction using multiple price auction method. The auction will be conducted by the Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Office, Fort, Mumbai on April 27, 2007(Friday).
Up to 5% of the notified amount of the sale of the stock will be allotted to eligible individuals and Institutions as per the Scheme for Non-Competitive Bidding Facility in the Auction of Government Securities.
Bids in the prescribed form obtainable from the Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Office (Public Debt Office), Fort, Mumbai-400 001 and RBI website www.rbi.org.in should be submitted to that Office on April 27, 2007.
